How to be a weird hero?

Let’s fix something at the very beginning: all the heroes are weird. Heroes are far from being normal. According to this, if you become a hero, you will definitely become a weird one, and you will have no other choice. Heroes are anything but normal, they are a little crazy and different from others. They are risk-takers. They choose to leave the safe and comfortable world behind and face challenges, meet dangerous creatures, meet the unexpected and the unknown, all of which lead them through the path of transition and transformation. Heroes bust the social norm and the status quo. Heroes are usually driven by love, passion and adventures.

How does the hero’s story begin?

The hero’s story most often sprouts in the land of boredom in an ordinary world where suddenly he hears a call to adventure. Without this call the hero might never become a true hero. Without this call he would remain a passive weirdo who knows he is different from the others and others also see him as different but there would never be an outcome, a contribution above this relationship based on difference. Without this call he would never know what he has to give to the world as he would sit in and look at the ordinary world motionless. Without this call he might become resigned and settled in this world of lack instead of searching for the world of abundance. Something has to wake him up to a state of wanting, which could be a task, an inner voice, a feeling, a word, anything that he is up to notice. But the hero doesn’t need a lot, he is not waiting for a big sign such as a town in fire or aliens harassing the society. A tiny breath is enough for the hero to step out from the ordinary and make the first step in the world of the unknown.

The dragon never wins

The hero’s journey starts with making connections with supernatural aids. No hero has to be the better at everything, and no hero has to do it all alone. The hero has to be willing to give a hand and ask for help. The supernatural creatures will help him pass the obstacles in front of which he feels powerless. These creatures know how to fight the dragon.

There is a gift

Can you recall what heroes are good at? First of all heroes are smart and creative. They can make a plan, create a strategy, and even if the challenge seems to be very hard to accomplish, they don’t give up. They look around, look for opportunities, and never give up. The hero’s gift is being honest to himself. If he chose discomfort, the unknown, risks, freedom and possibility, he stays with that no matter what. The hero is brave and knows when to ask for the contribution of the aids. The hero’s gift is his creative energy, the way he thinks outside the box, and the way he listens to what his heart tells him. The hero knows one thing for sure, that he is not like the others and he has a mission to accomplish. In doing so he chooses being creative instead of being strong.

The big return

If you arrive home the same way as you left to your journey it means you didn’t do anything at all unless fulfilling the basic human needs. If you decide to miss out the chance of receiving new impulses, you are way too normal, and you don’t wish for any kind of change. The hero takes outrageous actions. He goes where no one else goes. He does what everyone else is afraid to do. He makes decisions everyone around him forbids him to make. The hero does not let his fears block him but he finds a way to surpass them. The hero is about to transform through his actions. He would never arrive back home the same way he left, otherwise he would not have anything to give to the world. The hero leaves in the name of his mission and comes back with the news of success. He serves his mission along the road, and his mission serves him too when fears and doubts would get in his road.

You are not born a hero, you can become one

There is a world around you that has its own old habits, rules, structures. It can offer you safety and comfort as it represents something familiar to you. But you can also choose to move forward and get on the hero’s path where the yet unknown, freedom and the space of pure possibility wait you. If you choose the path of control, you are more likely to accept the world as it is and yourself as you are supposed to be. However on the path of transformation you have bigger chances to experience a world created by you based on your acts, your decisions, your desires, your rules and get closer to who you really are. In the land of challenges and possibilities there will be less opportunities for you to be who you pretend to be.

One way, which way?
