Time is money, money is energy – we have all heard these so far. But what if focus were money?
Most probably you waste a lot of energy during the day with many things that look trivial such as: one annoying partner or customer out of ten, one lazy or less proactive employee, one often heard sentence that triggers you, a tone of voice that disturbs your ears, a gesture, a less cozy or comfortable working environment, the atmosphere and the structure of the space where you spend considerable time, and so on. Of course, things cannot be perfect, but you have to keep up your energy level, so you rather start acknowledging the factors and circumstances that fulfill you with or drain you of energy.
Set your focus
After a two-months break, I’ve started running again. I gained some weight lately that made me feel uncomfortable in my body. It is hard to realize how fast my body loses shape, and gets tired during a 4 km run. But not the first run is the hardest one. After the initial bad accomplishment you have to find the motivation to go on the second run. After the first couple of runs you have to maintain the motivation and find something that challenges you and fills you with energy on every occasion.
Your motivation can be the continuous progress you make, noticing how your body changes, how you make the running route more and more difficult, but it can also be the environment that you explore while running, the music you finally have time to listen to, people you see or also connect with on the streets, setting your favorite bakery as a goal, noticing your rhythm of running, focusing on how you overcome the weaker moments, entering a state of flow. In the beautiful, chaotic, diverse and dynamic Italy I find my daily running motivations effortlessly.
If you focus on how hard it is to continue running after the first one km, every meter accomplished will be hard. If you focus on the beauty, challenge, novelty of it, you’ll be excited and fulfilled during and after each running experience. You decide what you focus on.
Focus is money, because
- if you focus on what drains your energy, you won’t be efficient at your work
- if you focus on the problems and mistakes, it will be hard to progress and move forward
- if you focus on what you did wrong, you’ll exclude the opportunities you have in front of you
- if you focus on how you could have done it better, you’ll most probably postpone the time of the next attempt
- if you focus on others’ expectations, you’ll never meet any expectation
- if you focus on the thoughts that hold you back, you’ll never get to know your true self
- if you focus on success, you won’t be able to go far
- if you focus on what is missing, you’ll never see the abundance right in front of you
- if you focus on your weaknesses, you’ll never have the courage to make the most out of your strengths
- if you focus on the future, you’ll miss the power of the present moment
- if you miss out on being present, you will never know how to design your future
The way you set your focus defines your actual way of being
both in your personal and professional life.
This is why it is really important to
- focus on your superpower, what you know best and by genuine
- focus on what fills you with energy, and what brings you joy, fun and self-fulfillment
- focus on the opportunities you have and the people who support you
- focus on the tasks, works you are really good at and delegate those that could be made by someone else
- focus on how you feel and what your intuition tells you
- focus on the next tiny step you’ll take towards your goal
- focus on the values that are really important to you and stick to them
- focus on how your experiences and stories support you in your achievements
- focus on what you can learn from your experiences
- focus on what you want in the present
- focus on the things that come by nature
- focus on love, creation, abundance, joy instead of lack, problems, sacrifice
And you will prosper.
